Tibet'sFirstInternationalHighwayTheChina-NepalHighwayisTibet'sonlyinternationalhighway.Itextends1,036krnfromLhasatoKathmandu,capitalofNepal.TheTibetansectionextends827km.Constructionofthehighwaylasted10years.BetweenMarch1951andOctober20,1955,theLhasa-XigazeHighwaywasconstructed,bringingtoanendahistoryoftheXigazeregionpossessingnoproperroads.In1955the90-kmXigaze-Gyangzesectionwasconstructed,beingopenedtotrafficinOctober1955.In1956,theLhasa-YadongHighwaywasconstructed,extending547km.In1958,theXigaze-TingriHighwaywascompleted,followedin1960bytheLhasa-BurangHighway.
