摘要
Ageographicinformationsystem(GIS)isahardware/softwaretoolwhichisveryeffectiveincollecting,storing,searching,handling,andvisualizinggeographicdatatogetherwiththeirdescriptiveattributes.Suchatoolisveryhelpfultoapproachawiderangeofsituations,includingmanylogisticproblems.ENEA,astheagencyhavingthetaskofimplementingtheItalianAntarcticProgram(PNRA),hasdecidedtouseaGIS,inordertoincreasetheefficiencyinmanagingthehugeamountofdatacollectedinthecourseofItalianactivityinAntarctica,whichcountsfifteenexpeditionsuptonow.
