简介：ThispaperdiscusseshowtoputintooperationamidrangecomputingclusterfortheNuclearChemistryGroup(NCG)oftheStateUniversityofNewYorkatSTONYBrook(SUNY-SB).TheNCGispartandoneofthecollaboratorswithintheRHIC/PhenixexperimentlocatedattheBrookhavenNationalLaboratory(BNL).ThePhenixdetectorsystemproducesabouthalfaPB(or500TB)ofdataayearandourgoalwastoprovidetothisremotecollaboratingfacilitythemeanstobepartoftheanalysisprocess.Thecomputinginstallationwasputintooperationatthebeginningoftheyear2000.Theclusterconsistsof32peripheralmachinesrunningunderLinuxandcentralserverAlpha4100underDIgitalUnix4.of(formallyTrueUnix64),Inthepapertherealizationprocessisunderdiscussion.
