摘要
SolidmodelingwithpreciseNURBSboundariescompliantwithSTEPstandardrepresentsthemostpromisingwayofdesigningcomplicatedmechanicalproductsinaCIMenvironment.Inparal-leltothetraditionalapproachofputtingtogethervolumetricprimitiveswithBooleanoperations,anal-ternativewayofapplyingthewireframeandskinningtechniquesisunderdevelopment.Thelatterap-proachiseasytoimplement,robustandcapableofhandlingthemostsophisticatedmodels,whilesuf-fersthedrawbacksoflowefficiencyinidentifyinginteractivelytheboundariesofeachsurfacepatchwhenthelinesegmentsareinterlacedandlocatedclosetoeachother.Thispaperdescribestheessentialsofthewireframeandskinningtechniqueswhichproducetheidenticalproductinformationmodelasasolidmodeler.
