Climatic variations and benign paroxysmal positional vertigo-中国期刊网

摘要 Benignparoxysmalpositionalvertigo(BPPV)isprobablythemostcommondiagnosisatvertigoclinics.Seasonalcyclesofseveralhumanillnessescouldbeattributedvariouslytochangesinatmosphericorweatherconditions.Inthisretrospectivestudy,patientswithBPPVfromJanuary2010toDecember2012werestudied,andtheirchartswerereviewed.Statisticalanalysisrevealedastatisticallysignificantdifferenceinpatients’numbersamongdifferentmonthsoftheyear.Alsothereisasignificantstatisticalcorrelationbetweenthenumbersofpatientswithclimaticvariationsespeciallythetemperature.ThepresentpaperdiscussesthepossibleexplanationsfortheseresultswhichconfirmstheseasonalvariationsinBPPV,togetherwithareviewofliteraturetoviewthepossibleassociationswithotherdisordersthatcausessuchseasonality.
