Thesimulationofaone-dimensionalrivernetworkneedstosolvetheSaint-Venantequations,inwhichthevariableparametersnormallyhaveasignificantinfluenceonthemodelaccuracy.ATrial-and-Errorapproachisamostcommonlyadoptedmethodofparametercalibration,however,thismethodistime-consumingandrequiresexperiencetoselecttheappropriatevaluesofparameter.Consequently,simulatedresultsobtainedviathismethodusuallydifferbetweenpractitioners.ThisarticlecombinesahydrodynamicmodelwithanintelligentmodeloriginatedfromtheGeneticAlgorithm(GA)technique,inordertoprovideanintelligentsimulationmethodthatcanoptimizetheparametersautomatically.Comparedwithcurrentapproaches,themethodpresentedinthisarticleissimpler,itsdependenceonfielddataislower,andthemodelaccuracyishigher.Whentheoptimizedparametersaretakenintothehydrodynamicnumericalmodel,agoodagreementisattainedbetweenthesimulatedresultsandthefielddata.
