Theformulaeusedtocalculatethefrictioninthenon-uniformflowchutewereexaminedwiththeexperimentaldata,andtheresultsshowthattheaccuracyoftheformulaisenoughforengineeringapplications.Acomparisonbetweentheresultsoffrictionrespectivelyfromtheuniformflowassumptionandthenon-uniformflowapproximationindicatesthattheformerisanorderofmagnitudelargerthanthelatterinthecaseofsteepchute.Thehydraulicdragonasteepchutewithaeratorswasmeasuredonthehydraulicmodeldirectlyandthecoefficientoftheaeratoreffectonthedragwasobtained.Thevariationpatternsofthewallshearjustdownstreamoftheaeratorswereinvestigatedandthemechanismoftheincreaseinthedragbyaeratorwereanalyzedqualitativelywiththemeasuredwater-depthsjustdownstreamtheaerators.
