简介:Thispaperpresentsamoleculardynamicssimulationofthebehavioursofnon-polardropletsmergingandalsothefluidmoleculesinteractingwithahydrophobicsurface.Suchbehavioursandtransportphenomenaarepopularingeneralmicro-channelflowboilingandtwo-phaseflow.ThedropletsareassumedtobecomposedofLennards-Jonestypemolecules.Periodicboundaryconditionsareappliedinthreecoordinatedirectionsofa3-Dsystem,wherethereexisttwoliquiddropletsandtheirvapour.Thetwodropletsmergewhentheycomewithintheprescribedsmalldistance.Themergingoftwodropletsapartfromeachotheratdifferentinitialdistancesistestedandthepossiblelarger(orcritical)non-dimensionaldistance,inwhichdropletsmergingcanoccur,isdiscussed.TheevolutionofthemergingprocessissimulatednumericallybyemployingtheMolecularDynamics(MD)method.Forinteractionswithhydrophobicsolidwall,asystemwithfluidconfinedbetweentwowallsisusedtostudythewettingphenomenaoffluidandsolidwall.Theresultsarecomparedwiththoseofhydrophilicwalltoshowtheuniquecharacteristicsofhydrophobicinteractionsbymicroscopicmethods.
